Abstract
Growing publication rates in many scientific disciplines require sufficient techniques to cope with such large amount of data. We speak about methods that allow users to investigate large document corpora with focus on scientific documents. The relation of text and images is discussed, the visualization of time varying text data is addressed. Examples from works of our group are given.
Biography
Prof. Deussen graduated at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany in
1996 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University of Magdeburg
on Non-Photorealistic Rendering. In 2000 he was appointed as a professor
for Computer Graphics and Media Design by Dresden University of
Technology. Since 2003 he is professor for Computer Graphics and Media
Informatics at Konstanz University. He was guest researcher at Microsoft
Research, Redmond and Visiting Professor at the Chinese Academy of
Science. His areas of interest are modeling and rendering of complex
things and in particular of botanic objects and landscapes,
Non-photorealistic rendering as well as Information Visualization.
Hendrik Strobelt graduated 2007 at TU Dresden in Computer Science. He has a PhD position in Deussen group at University of Konstanz. His research interest is in Information Visualization with focus on document visualization.
